“Jupiter’s Claim” at Universal Studios Hollywood

After wrapping NOPE in October of 2021, I worked as a creative consultant during the construction of the Jupiter’s Claim attraction at Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. I worked closely with NOPE Production Designer Ruth De Jong and Art Director Samantha Englender, Monkeypaw Production’s Creative Director Ian Cooper, as well a team from the theme park, to ensure the permanent attraction the was a faithful recreation of the “Jupiter’s Claim” set built in Agua Dulce, CA.

In my role, I advised the Universal team on how to best create a facsimile of Set Decorator Gene Serdena’s work in Jupiter’s Claim. This included creating and presenting a comprehensive breakdown of all relevant dressing from the film, finding alternatives to elements we no longer had access to, inventorying and assembling items from the Universal Asset Warehouse, highlighting and recreating key details, on-site walk-throughs and reviews, and acting as a general resource for any questions the park’s design team had during the construction of the attraction.
